Vancouver hospitals adopt healthcare app made in British Columbia
26 Vancouver-area hospitals are adopting a new healthcare app that allows hospitals to track staff and resources in real time and allocate them to where they’re needed most. The app was developed by software company Thrive Health and consulting firm Salesforce Traction on Demand, two Vancouver-based companies.
Thrive saw the need for a resource tracking and allocation app in the age of Covid-19, which threatens to overwhelm the capacity of healthcare systems around the world. So the software company – whose Covid-19 self-assessment app is the No. 1 medical app in the Google Play and Apple App stores – has teamed up with Traction on Demand, one of the most leading Salesforce consulting firms in North America.
With support from Salesforce and the BC government, the two companies created the new healthcare app – the Covid-19 Critical Care Resource Management app – on the Salesforce platform. The app is customizable, scalable, accessible from installations around the world, and portable through any device.
“In times of crisis, being able to track your critical personnel and supplies in real time is crucial, so they can be allocated effectively and efficiently to save lives and ease the strain on the system,” said David Helliwell, co-founder. and CEO of Thrive Health.
The app allows healthcare workers to track available staff, ventilators and protective gear, as well as current facility occupancy. It also offers advanced reporting capabilities to disseminate information to different levels of management, from hospital heads to regional health authorities.
“It is reassuring to see business and government joining forces to answer the call,” said BC Premier John Horgan. “This new app is an example of BC leaders in technology and healthcare solving problems to save lives around the world.”
Traction on Demand leveraged their extensive Salesforce expertise to rapidly develop the app. Salesforce Platinum Consulting Partner and Salesforce Premium Partner have completed over 5,000 projects on the platform. The company has eight offices in Canada, the United States, Australia and India.
