The iTero Element 5D Plus Imaging System is recognized for its innovative features that facilitate oral health assessment and improve practice productivity for the Invisalign¹ treatment workflow. It became available in February 2021 and builds on the success of the award-winning iTero Element family of intraoral scanners, providing all of the existing digital orthodontic and restorative capabilities that physicians rely on. The technology now offers faster processing times², detailed visualization capabilities and simplified workflows.

In a single scan, the iTero Element 5D Plus imaging system enables diagnostic, restorative, and orthodontic workflows. The all-in-one scan simultaneously records 3D, intraoral color, near-infrared imaging (NIRI) images and allows comparison over time using iTero TimeLapse³ technology. This eliminates the need to re-scan or modify scanning tips, developing a more efficient workflow for physicians and improving the patient experience.

iTero NIRI technology has the potential to change the way dentists conduct routine hygiene appointments, providing a proactive approach to oral health management, improving patient education and acceptance . By integrating the iTero Element 5D imaging system into their professional practice, surveyed physicians reported an increase in bitewing caries (caries between adjacent teeth) detection of 56%⁴, an increase in company revenue of 34 %⁵ and a 71% increase in patient acceptance. %⁶. iTero NIRI technology works by scanning the structure of the tooth, helping to find hard-to-detect early decay between teeth that is not easily visible to the naked eye.
